Krátce působil ve sk. Curved Air a poté se proslavil jako člen The Police (1977 - 84).
V r. 1978 natočil jeden singl s triem Radio Actors. Hodně se věnuje scénické a filmové hudbě. Jako herec se sám objevil m.j. ve filmech Talking Drums...
